2 More Recalls: “HaTikvah” and “Yisragal” fish products

In addition to the two recalls reported this week, HaTikvah Smoked Fish and Yisragal are announcing another recall of the following products due to the suspected presence of Listeria monocytogenes:

“HaTikvah”:

Filet Matias in Oil, 480 grams, expiration dates between 7 Mar 2015 and 9 April 2015

“Yisragal”:

  1. Fillet Herring in Vacuum, manufactured 26 Jan 2015, expiration date 13 March 2015
  2. Matias-Style Fillet Herring, manufactured 26 Jan 2015, expiration date 3 March 2015

The public is advised not to consume these products and to return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund.

Listeriosis, a serious infection usually caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, is an important public health problem. The disease primarily affects older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems. However, rarely, persons without these risk factors can also be affected. The risk may be reduced by recommendations for safe food preparation, consumption, and storage.  For more information, go to the CDC web site.

2 RECALLS: “HaTikvah” and “Yisragal” fish products

The pathogenic bacteria Listeria monocytogenes has been found in the fish products of two companies with factories in the Ashkelon district- “HaTikvah Smoked Fish” and “Yisragal Meterman”.  The specific products include:

HaTikvah:

  1. Fillet Matias in Oil- 480 grams (380 grams drained weight)- expiration dates 6 April 2015 and 9 April 2015
  2. Palamida in Oil- 480 grams (380 grams drained weight)- expiration date 9 April 2015

Yisragal:

  1. Herring Fillet- manufacturing date 18 Jan 2015, expiration date 5 March 2015

If you have purchased any of these products, do not consume them.  Bring them back to the place you purchased them to receive a refund.  Both of these companies are removing these products from the shelves.

RECALL: Pal Dagim Matias Hollandi herring in oil

A routine check by Misrad HaBriut discovered the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in Matias Hollandi  herring in oil.

The 250 gram product can be identified by the bar code number 729003648078 and has expiration dates of 13 Apr 2014 and 15 Apr 2014.

These bacteria can cause abortions in pregnant women and illness in people with depressed immune systems.  Pal Dagim is removing this product from the shelves.  If you have the product at home, you are asked to call 03-9067744 and to return it to the store.

RECALL: Yisragal brand salted herring fillet

Yisragal is notifying its customers that as a result of a routine test performed by the Food Control Service, the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes was found in Vacuum-Packaged Salted Herring Fillets manufactured on 1 Aug 2013.  The expiration date of the product is 19 Sept 2013.

The factory is now collecting all of this product from the shelves, and asks consumers that have this specific productin their possession to return it to the store they purchased it from to receive a credit.  Yisragal Ashdod will be doing its utmost to prevent this pathogenic bacteria from being present in future products.
