Nifty Sefirat HaOmer app

The second day of Pesach is the first day of Sefirat HaOmer.  If you have tried all sorts of reminders but tend to forget to count anyway, check out Rusty Brick’s Sefirat HaOmer app for iPhone and Android.  The app itself is free but if you pay 99 cents, you will get a daily reminder to count with the correct number in the listing.  In my opinion, this is the best 99 cents I have ever spent- I tried setting up reminders in Google Calendar but the number wouldn’t change with each successive day.  You can pick what time of day the reminder is sent and it does not send reminders on Shabbat/Yom Tov.

The Shmittah App

The Shmittah App has just come out for Android devices (iPhone coming soon).  The Shmittah App is a “free app designed to be an extra tool in your pocket to enhance your shmittah observance. The Shmittah App was designed to get you answers right when you need it.”

To download the app, go to Google Play.

New Toys ‘R Us coupon app

For those of us who forget to carry around the Toys ‘R Us coupons we printed out, there is a new app just for us.  ToysRUsIL is a new app for the iPhone or Android with lots of coupons, a search engine for the closest store, and the ability to shop Toys ‘R Us on the internet.  Don’t let your kids know about the app, though, or you won’t be able to use the excuse “I forgot my coupons” when they complain that you won’t stop at Toys ‘R Us on the way home…

Yisrael HaYom coupons

A Facebook reader asked what day of the week do the coupons usually appear in Yisrael HaYom.  To be honest, I haven’t paid attention- I am too bleary-eyed in the morning to notice.  Today, Thursday, there are a lot of Super-pharm coupons.  I will check back next week to see if it is the same.  The supermarket sales used to be listed on Wednesday, last week they were Thursday, so no pattern there.

If you are an early riser, you can get an electronic copy of the paper mailed to you (it is in my inbox at 5:30am).  Look through it and if there are coupons you want, you can head over to one of the newspaper stands.

To sign up to receive the paper by email, click here.  It is actually a link to the newspaper posted on their web site.  There is an app to read the newspaper on your iPad for no charge- get it here.  Android users- click here.  iPhone users click here.

To find out where they give out the newspaper in your area, click here.

Unfortunately I have not ben able to print any coupons from the electronic paper and use them in the store.  if you are, let me know!
